for Bangkok University Students

The University provides 1st– 4th year students with accident insurance with a low-premium policy, to be paid with the registration fee. Other students admitted in previous years need to acquire the accident insurance by themselves. The accident insurance offers 24- hour protection, for a period of one year, with a maximum coverage of 200,000 baht in case of death, and 10,000 baht for death not caused by accident. In case of accident, the coverage is up to 30,000 baht per each accident. For this academic year, the University provides the accident insurance for students by Muang Thai Insurance.

Accident Insurance provides coverage for death, dismemberment, loss of eyesight, loss of hearing, loss of speech, and permanent disability as well as coverage for medical expense compensation according to actual expense, but not exceeding the maximum medical expense compensation per accident.

Standard Benefits (for students insured with Group Accident Insurance)

1. Death

    1.1 Death due to accident
          Maximum coverage per person up to 200,000.-baht for full time students/student athletes

    1.2 Death not caused by accident
          Maximum coverage per person up to 10,000.- baht full time students/student athletes

2. Dismemberment, loss of eyesight, or total and permanent disability

          Maximum coverage per person up to 200,000.-baht for students/athletes

3. Medical Expense

          In case of accident, insured students shall seek a medical treatment at lawful hospitals/clinic/polyclinic/medical centers and facilities, the Company will reimburse the insured students for the actual expense paid in advance but not exceeding 30,000 baht per accident, and, for the student athletes, not exceeding 80,000 baht.

Guidelines on how to file an accident insurance claim

1. Medical Expense

          1.1 In case of hospitalization/receiving medical treatment at a network hospital
                • Present a National Identification Card (for Thai Students) or Passport (for International Students), to check for eligibility.

          1.2 To claim for reimbursement of medical expense for injuries, in case of advance payment, please submit the following documents:
                 • Accident claim form with complete details (Download Claim Form)
                 • Evidence: Medical Certificate/Medical Treatment Report (original copy)
                 • Receipt for Medical Treatment (original copy)
                 • A copy of Student Identification Card
                 • A copy of the bankbook with account details for a transfer of reimbursement

Remarks :  The University will make a claim/submit a claim on behalf of the insured students to the Insurance Company.


2. In case of dismemberment, loss of eyesight, loss of hearing, loss of speech, and permanent disability

          1. In case of dismemberment, loss of eyesight, loss of hearing, loss of speech, and permanent disability: A full picture of the insured student is required.
          2. A copy of Student Identification Card
          3. In case of permanent disability, a court decree declaring the insured student as permanently disabled is required with a guardianship order for an appointed/legal guardian. In case the insured is deemed as being incompetent by a court of law, a court decree is required with a guardianship order for an appointed/legal guardian.

Remarks :  The University will make a claim/submit a claim on behalf of the insured students to the Insurance Company.


3. In case of death due to accident/other reasons

    Procedures for a family member/relation/beneficiary: 
 
          Submit the evidence for the claim to the Insurance Company within 30 days but exceeding 180 days from the day the insured is deceased, as follows:

          1. Death Certificate
          2. Police Report
          3. Medical Certificate of Cause of Death
          4. A Copy of House Registration of the Inured and the
          5. A Copy of National Identification Card of the Insured and the  Beneficiary
          6. If the insured is a minor, a guardianship order by the court is required.
          7. Additional evidence, if any

Remarks :  The University will make a claim/submit a claim on behalf of the insured students to the Insurance Company.

Exclusion of medical treatment not covered by the accident insurance

          1. Eye injuries due to dust or eye penetrated by foreign bodies/objects without visible injuries such as scratch, tear on the eye/tissue or without using object to get rid of the foreign objects from the eye
          2. Injuries which are not clearly visible such as bruises or scratches
          3. Medical treatment not ordered/prescribed directly  by qualified doctors
          4. Laboratory fee covering only CBC, ANTI HIV in case of operation, in order cases the Insurance Company will consider as appropriate.
          5. Other expenses not related to medical expenses such as phone bills, newspapers, internet, beverage, special meals, doctor’s certificate, medical history, SET ADMIT, medical record, other medical services, forensic medical fee, miscellaneous fee and service fee, specialist doctor fee, hospital fee.
          6. Ambulance fee, to be considered for medical necessity by the Insurance Company
          7. Chest Radiograph (Chest X-ray) or Electrocardiogram (EKG) before surgery and Medical Supplies
